Personalized Therapy Intensives

In-Person Support for Teens & Adults in North County San Diego

A More Focused, Supportive Way to Heal

Sometimes weekly therapy isn’t enough. You might feel stuck, want to move through something faster, or need dedicated space to focus deeply on a specific issue. Therapy intensives offer a powerful alternative, helping you make meaningful progress in less time with greater support.

These in-person sessions take place at my office in Carlsbad and are available to clients from Encinitas, Oceanside, San Marcos, Vista, and beyond. Many clients also travel from other parts of California or out of state for this focused work.

Drawing from my background as a trauma therapist in a respected residential treatment center, I now bring that same depth of care into a personalized, private practice setting, tailoring each intensive to your goals and your nervous system.

Is a Therapy Intensive Right for You?

An intensive may be a good fit if you:

  • Are navigating anxiety, overwhelm, or emotional blocks that feel hard to shift
  • Feel stuck in weekly therapy and want faster momentum
  • Are processing a specific trauma, transition, or unresolved experience
  • Don’t have time for weekly sessions but want meaningful progress
  • Have done therapy before and are ready to revisit something more deeply
  • Are curious to try EMDR or Brainspotting in an immersive format
  • Already have a therapist but want focused support with these methods

Therapy intensives are available for new and existing clients. With your consent, I’m also happy to collaborate with your current therapist to ensure continuity of care.

Format & Pricing

Therapy intensives are a focused, high-impact option that condense months of therapy into a shorter timeframe.

Intensives begin at $1,200, which includes a consultation, a 50-minute intake session, and a 3-hour intensive. Longer formats are also available, including half-day, full-day, and multi-day experiences depending on your goals and availability.

Rates typically average $250–350 per hour, depending on the format and whether sessions are scheduled on weekdays or weekends. Intensive sessions may be eligible for partial reimbursement if your insurance offers out-of-network benefits.

Each intensive is thoughtfully designed and customized for you. It includes:

  • A free 15-minute consultation call (for new clients)
  • A 50-minute planning and intake session
  • One or more extended in-person therapy sessions with built-in breaks for rest and grounding
  • A tailored blend of approaches, which may include EMDR, Brainspotting, somatic work, and resourcing

This format is especially effective for:

  • Processing trauma
  • Shifting entrenched patterns
  • Navigating major life transitions when shorter sessions aren’t enough

Your intensive is always tailored to your goals and comfort level. We may integrate EMDR, Brainspotting, resourcing strategies, or talk therapy. These methods are available but never required.

Common Goals for Therapy Intensives

Clients often choose intensives to:

  • Process a recent loss, breakup, or life change
  • Address anxiety, panic, or perfectionism
  • Work through trauma or distressing memories
  • Feel unstuck after previous therapy
  • Prepare for or recover from a major transition (career, relationship, family)
  • Shift long-held beliefs affecting confidence, relationships, or self-worth
  • Build insight, resilience, and a stronger sense of self

After an Intensive

Some clients feel a strong sense of resolution after their intensive and don’t need ongoing therapy. Others transition into regular 50- or 100-minute sessions to continue building on their progress. Both options are welcome.

Intensives can also be scheduled as a one-time experience, especially if you are visiting from out of town or already have another therapist. If you already have a therapist, you can still book an intensive with me. This format works well as a short-term supplement, especially when you want to focus on something specific. With your consent, I’m happy to coordinate care with your current provider.

Integrating EMDR & Brainspotting

While every intensive is unique, many clients benefit from incorporating EMDR or Brainspotting.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): A structured method that uses bilateral stimulation (light bar or headphones) to help reprocess distressing memories, negative beliefs, or trauma. It is efficient and especially effective for anxiety, shame, and persistent self-criticism.
  • Brainspotting: A more intuitive, body-based approach that uses “brainspots” in your visual field to access and release emotional material stored in the brain and body. It is often transformative when talk therapy alone doesn’t reach the deeper layers of experience.

Some clients prefer one approach, while others benefit from a combination. We’ll collaborate to find what feels most effective and supportive for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be in weekly therapy first to do an intensive?

Not at all. Some clients come just for an intensive, especially if they live outside of San Diego or already have a primary therapist. Others use intensives to complement ongoing therapy and work through something specific. Either approach is welcome..

Will a 3-hour session feel overwhelming?

The work can be deep, but it’s also paced intentionally. We include breaks for grounding, movement, snacks, or hydration. Most clients leave feeling clearer, more regulated, and empowered, even after emotionally meaningful work.

What if I’m not sure what I want to work on yet?

That’s completely okay. The pre-intensive planning session is designed to clarify your goals and create a customized roadmap. You don’t need to have it all figured out in advance—we’ll discover it together.

Do you offer virtual intensives?

At this time, intensives are offered in person at my Carlsbad, CA office. If you're outside of the area and interested, feel free to reach out—we can explore travel options together.

Are EMDR and Brainspotting only for trauma?

Not at all. These approaches are also highly effective for anxiety, stress, self-doubt, perfectionism, and negative core beliefs, not just big “T” trauma.

Do you accept insurance for therapy intensives?

Therapy intensives are self-pay. Superbills are available upon request if your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits. Many clients with PPO plans are able to receive partial reimbursement directly from their provider.

What is EMDR?

What is Brainspotting?

What is Brainspotting?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful, research-backed therapy for reducing the emotional impact of trauma, anxiety, and negative self-beliefs. In an intensive format, EMDR allows for deeper reprocessing with fewer stops and starts—helping you access relief and resolution more efficiently.

What is Brainspotting?

What is Brainspotting?

What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a somatic and brain-based therapy that uses eye position to access where emotional pain and trauma are held in the body. It’s especially helpful when words fall short or you’ve felt stuck in traditional talk therapy. Intensives give Brainspotting the time and space it needs to work deeply, gently, and without interruption.
