Personalized Therapy Intensives

In-Person Support for Teens & Adults in North County San Diego

A More Focused, Supportive Way to Heal

Sometimes weekly therapy isn’t enough. You might feel stuck, want to move through something faster, or need a dedicated space to focus deeply on a specific issue. Therapy intensives offer a powerful alternative—helping you make meaningful progress in less time, with greater support.

These in-person intensives take place at my office in Carlsbad, California, and are available to clients from nearby areas like Encinitas, Oceanside, San Marcos, and Vista—as well as those traveling from other parts of California or out of state.

Drawing from my experience as a trauma therapist in a respected residential treatment center, I now bring that same depth of care into a more personalized, private practice setting—tailoring each intensive to your goals and your nervous system.

Is a Therapy Intensive Right for You?

A therapy intensive might be a good fit if you:

  • Are navigating anxiety, overwhelm, or emotional blocks that feel hard to shift
  • Feel stuck in weekly therapy or want faster momentum
  • Are processing a specific trauma, transition, or unresolved experience
  • Don’t have time for weekly sessions but want to make meaningful progress
  • Have done therapy before and are ready to revisit something more deeply
  • Are curious to try EMDR or Brainspotting in a focused, immersive format
  • Are working with a therapist who doesn’t offer EMDR or Brainspotting and want to incorporate these tools into your healing

Therapy intensives are available to both new and existing clients. They also work well as adjunct support for those already working with another therapist. With your consent, I’m happy to collaborate with your current provider to ensure continuity of care.

Common Goals for Therapy Intensives

Clients choose intensives for many reasons, but here are some of the most common:

  • Processing a recent loss, breakup, or life change
  • Addressing anxiety, panic, or perfectionism that’s getting in the way
  • Working through trauma or distressing memories
  • Feeling emotionally stuck despite previous therapy
  • Preparing for or recovering from a major transition (like a career change or relationship shift)
  • Shifting long-held beliefs that affect confidence, relationships, or self-worth
  • Deepening personal insight and emotional resilience

Whether your goals are specific or still taking shape, we’ll work together to design an intensive that meets you where you are and moves you toward where you want to be.

What’s Included

Each intensive is thoughtfully customized and includes:

  • A free 15-minute consultation call
  • One 50-minute planning session (scheduled before your intensive)
  • One 3-hour in-person therapy session
  • Built-in breaks for rest, hydration, and grounding

We may integrate EMDR, Brainspotting, resourcing strategies, or talk therapy—depending on your goals and what feels most helpful to you. While EMDR and Brainspotting are commonly used, they’re not required. Your intensive will be tailored to what works best for your needs and goals.

Format & Pricing

Half-Day Therapy Intensive – $850
A high-impact, single-day experience. Includes one 50-minute planning session and one 3-hour intensive therapy session. Ideal for targeting a specific issue, processing a stuck emotional pattern, or gaining clarity around a major life decision.

If you find this work helpful and would like to schedule an additional day, we can discuss extending the format based on your goals and availability.

What Happens After an Intensive?

Some clients feel a strong sense of resolution after their intensive and don’t need ongoing therapy. Others transition into regular 50- or 100-minute sessions to continue building on the momentum. Both are welcome.

You’re also welcome to book an intensive as a one-time experience—especially if you’re visiting from out of town or already working with another therapist.

Adjunct Therapy Is Welcome

If you already have a therapist, you can still book an intensive with me. This format works well as a short-term supplement, especially when you want to focus on something specific. With your consent, I’m happy to coordinate care with your current provider.

Integrating EMDR & Brainspotting into Intensives

While therapy intensives are always tailored to your unique goals, EMDR and Brainspotting are two powerful methods I often incorporate—especially when deeper emotional processing is needed.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) uses bilateral stimulation—typically through a light bar and/or alternating tones via headphones—to help your brain reprocess distressing memories, negative beliefs, or trauma. It’s structured, efficient, and especially effective for anxiety, shame, and persistent inner criticism.

Brainspotting is more body-based and intuitive. It involves locating “brainspots” in your visual field that connect to emotional material stored in the brain and body. This approach can be incredibly powerful when traditional talk therapy doesn’t reach the deeper layers of an experience.

Some clients prefer one method over the other, while many benefit from a combination. These techniques are available but never required—we’ll collaborate to find what feels most supportive and effective for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be in weekly therapy first to do an intensive?

Not at all. Some clients come just for an intensive—especially if they live outside of San Diego or already have a primary therapist. Others use intensives to complement ongoing therapy and work through something specific. Either approach is welcome..

Will a 3-hour session feel overwhelming?

The work can be deep, but it’s also paced intentionally. We include breaks for grounding, movement, snacks, or hydration. Most clients leave feeling clearer, more regulated, and empowered—even after emotionally meaningful work.

What if I’m not sure what I want to work on yet?

That’s completely okay. The pre-intensive planning session is designed to clarify your goals and create a customized roadmap. You don’t need to have it all figured out in advance—we’ll discover it together.

Do you offer virtual intensives?

At this time, intensives are offered in person at my Carlsbad, CA office. If you're outside of the area and interested, feel free to reach out—we can explore travel options together.

Are EMDR and Brainspotting only for trauma?

Not at all. These approaches are also highly effective for anxiety, stress, self-doubt, perfectionism, and negative core beliefs—not just big “T” trauma.

Do you accept insurance for therapy intensives?

Therapy intensives are self-pay. Superbills are available upon request if your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits. Many clients with PPO plans are able to receive partial reimbursement directly from their provider.

What is EMDR?

What is Brainspotting?

What is Brainspotting?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful, research-backed therapy for reducing the emotional impact of trauma, anxiety, and negative self-beliefs. In an intensive format, EMDR allows for deeper reprocessing with fewer stops and starts—helping you access relief and resolution more efficiently.

What is Brainspotting?

What is Brainspotting?

What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a somatic and brain-based therapy that uses eye position to access where emotional pain and trauma are held in the body. It’s especially helpful when words fall short or you’ve felt stuck in traditional talk therapy. Intensives give Brainspotting the time and space it needs to work deeply, gently, and without interruption.
